We are going to work at The Well!

Jess and I (for now, Johnmark is the one writing the posts) have lingered awhile over the next step in our life.

Some back story for those who don't know. Our newly made family have been feeling the pull for quite some time to do something different. We love Chicago, Edgewater, Safeplace, and our friends we have made in the area. However we find ourselves being drawn to do something different, to hone our skills, to learn more, to see what God has been doing. 

So as we prayed and talked to each other and our respected friends and family, we kept being drawn into doing something with internationals as well as doing something that combined social work and the Gospel. One place that seemed to keep popping up for us is a ministry called The Well that Jessica had volunteered for a couple years back. This ministry works in Bangkok,  Thailand to assist women working in the Red Light district in leaving this lifestyle. It provides life and job skill training, as well as educational, social and phycological support. Most importantly it seeks to love these women with God's love and share with them the hope they have in Christ. In summary it does exactly what Jess and I have been looking for. As most of you all know its not that easy to just pick up and move to Thailand. So we have been really challenged to think and pray if God would want us to take a step of faith and serve this ministry in any way we can. 

In the end our plan was, made. We want to go and serve! We decided to go for 9 months and give of ourselves to this ministry and the people we encounter. We also are really excited to learn how Christian social work is being done with at-risk internationals. Above all we have already learned and experienced how great it is to trust God on faith to do something through us. 

Pray for us! We hope to leave at the end of September. That leaves about 6 months to raise the money we need as well as work out all the other small details. More information to come on that soon. Love you all!
